Corona...Corona...

Writer: Talia GallagherTalia Gallagher

I'm not sure about everyone else, but this whole coronavirus situation is not ideal. EVERYTHING IS CLOSING, no one wants to get within 4 feet of each other, and we have no toilet paper anywhere. Which is something that is interesting to me. You would have thought that meats and other foods would have gone first. Not only is finding toilet paper hard, but finding things to do has become difficult. For me, it‘s really hard to decide WHAT to do, especially since most places would be filled with people. Being someone who has no cough, stuffed nose, or fever, it was even more frustrating to stay home. Yet, I understand why and to be honest, I really don’t want to be out with a bunch of people.

Our decision was that we would start doing more things outside. I use to hike and play outside as a child, but over the years that has lessened as I started working inside. As I started to do more and more photography, I once again became a fan of adventures outdoors. However, other than paved parks, pumpkin patches, apple fields, and Disney (yes...that is outside...so it counts), I didn't get out like I used to. When this panic hit and everyone was staying away from everyone else, hiking seemed to be the only thing that could be done away from people. When you hike, you are not around others and if you pass someone on the paths, the outside air helps the germs stay away. At least, that's what I tell myself.

I had forgotten how great it was to hike. Not only do you get to have an adventure, but it's also one of the most relaxing things that you can do. Red Top Mountain was our outing this time and we enjoyed every second of it. I always have a picnic blanket and hammock in the back of my car, so we were happy to use those as we hiked around and had lunch. It was also one of the first days that the weather had been nice in weeks! We were so thankful that we could see some sunshine in the midst of all the craziness.

I'm actually really excited right now, as I sit and try to find new hiking spots and adventures to take outside. So I guess the moral of this story would be, GO ON AN ADVENTURE OUTSIDE!

Welllll...Those were my thoughts for today! Stay active and healthy friends!
